Hackers, Social Engineering and Geolocation
On Wednesday we held another webinar with PC Alistair Kennedy from the Humberside Police Cyber Crime Unit. The session had a focus on Hackers, Social Engineering and Geolocation. We covered the art of how criminals manipulate people to obtain confidential information.

Hit cleaning TV show Filthy House SOS is back. They are looking for people to take part! Do you need help cleaning up your home?
Gobstopper TV, a Manchester based TV production company, are casting for series 2 of the hit cleaning show ‘Filthy House SOS’ and are filming in our local area in the upcoming few weeks.
The first series was a huge success of 5Star and Channel 5.
They are looking for people who need help cleaning up their home and getting tips to keep it clean for good. Please spread the word if you know anybody that may benefit from their help! Filming with take part in July, August and September.

Building a successful organisation – DSC training dates for July and August
DSC has adapted and developed some of their most popular courses and created some new courses for a series of online training days/half days.
‘Building a Successful Organisation’ is a collection of six half day courses in July and August, covering governance, marketing, strategy, fundraising, income diversification and leadership. The series of workshops act as a comprehensive guide to building, improving, or scaling a charitable, or other not for profit, organisations.
Honours: how to write a nomination
During the pandemic there have been many, many amazing people doing selfless tasks to keep people safe and healthy – and they have most likely been doing that for many years previously as well.
Now is the time to say thank you to these people by putting them forward for a national honour.
The Government has recently updated the guidance on how to write a citation if you want to nominate someone for a national honour.

Business events and conferences given go ahead to resume from start of October
The Prime Minister has announced that business events, conferences and event centres will be given the go-ahead to reopen on 1 October, as long as users are adhering to social distancing.
New guidance to be published by DCMS and the Association of Event Organisers, will help event organisers, venue operators and participants understand how they can work and host business events and conferences and keep both their guests and staff safe.
The National Children’s Bureau have sent out another newsletter this week. It’s full of all the news and information you need for the youth sector. The newsletter also includes information on how the Children’s Minister welcomes principles that put children and families at the heart of recovery.
National Fraud Intelligence Bureau unveils key cyber crime statistics
Important data on cyber crimes reported by Action Fraud is now available on a configurable, interactive online database.
Whilst using the system users can filter the results based on location and crime, and can easily find out the most commonly reported crimes and how these were reported.
To increase usability, the platform includes an “About the Data” tab which answers key questions about what this data shows and any limitations.
The data is updated each month and covers a 13-month period. Therefore the current month can be compared to the same month last year.
The NFIB is a police unit which is responsible for gathering and analysing intelligence relating to fraud and financially motivated cybercrime.

This report documents the findings of research, which took place from during the last school year, which examined young people’s attitudes to issues relating to sexual health, and their experiences of sexual health services.
Manager Julie Dearing said ‘We were delighted to work with pupils in the East Riding again, the young people we worked with were extremely forthcoming with their views and were open and willing to talk about what could be a sensitive subject, which has helped to produce an insightful report’.
Leaders Unlocked published Policing the Pandemic – a report with the voices and recommendations of 3941 young people who told us what they thought about policing during lockdown. Thanks to youth panel members Ahmed, Nadine, Giosue, Amania, Georgia, Kieron, Louise & Jorawar who worked on the project.

2021 GSK Impact Awards
Charities are facing significant challenges as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, while continuing to provide vital services to keep people healthy and connected.
This year, more than ever, we are pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2021 GSK IMPACT Awards. The awards are funded by GSK and managed in partnership with The King’s Fund. Winning organisations will receive core funding of up to £40,000, plus access to excellent training and development to support their leaders.
To be eligible to apply, organisations must be at least three years old, working in a health-related field in the UK, with income between £80,000 and £2.5 million. Up to 20 awards will be made, ranging from £3,000 to £40,000; the training and development is valued at a further £9,500. Organisations will also have a film made, receive help with press and publicity, and be given a set of promotional materials.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Monday 14 September 2020.
Grants of up to £100,000 Available for Community Facilities
Registered charities, churches, parish councils, local authorities and CASC registered sports clubs can apply for grants of between £2,000 and £100,000 for the provision, maintenance or improvement of community facilities. This can include village halls and community centres, public play areas; publicly available multi use games areas, skate parks and BMX tracks; sport and recreation grounds including pavilions and clubhouses with full public access; churches – community spaces only; nature reserves; public gardens, parks, country parks and woodlands with at least dawn to dusk access; and Museums. The funding is being made available through the FCC Community Action Fund and is available to projects located within 10 miles of an eligible FCC Environment site.
The closing date for applications at 5pm on the 2nd September 2020.
New £10 Million Fund for Domestic Abuse Charities
The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has re-opened the Domestic abuse safe accommodation: COVID-19 emergency support fund. A total of £1.85 million is available to support domestic violence charities to ensure that they can continue operating and keep bedspaces open for victims and their children fleeing from abuse during COVID-19 emergency. The fund is part of a wider £76 million fund promised to domestic violence and abuse charities to support domestic abuse safe accommodation charities. The fund will be allocated on a first come first served basis and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government will continue to accept bids until the funding has been exhausted or until 20 July 2020, whichever is sooner. Grants of up to £100,000 are available per individual bid. More may be available for consortium bids.
Charity Survival Fund Deadline: 27 July 2020 (17:00)
A one-off £10 million Charity Survival Fund has been set up by the Julia and Hans Rausing Trust. This is in response to their ongoing concern about the economic impact of COVID-19 on charities. The funding aims to help small and medium sized UK registered charities who are struggling with a loss of income in the current financial year. The level of funding for each charity depends on their annual income. Grants of between £1,000 and £250,000 are available. It is expected that around 200 charities across the country will benefit from this fund. Charities must be working within the Trust’s three key funding areas as follows:
Health and Wellbeing – within the areas of disease and patient care; mental health and addiction recovery; disability, aged and palliative care.
Welfare and Education – addressing poverty and disadvantage, especially in relation to young people; and also those working in areas such as food insecurity and criminal justice reform and rehabilitation.
Arts and Culture – the performing arts; independent museums and galleries; heritage sites and historic buildings.
Tackling Inequalities Fund – £30,000 invested into fantastic projects in the Humber
Active Humber opened the Tackling Inequalities fund at the beginning of June. The fund is in place to support organisations working with those in four target groups, which are Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities, lower socio-economic groups, disability and those with long term health conditions to enable them to be active during this time. We know the people within these target groups are more likely to be inactive and also are significantly more affected by the Coronavirus and therefore we have a dedicated fund to support them. So far Active Humber has invested around £30,000, there is more funding still available to groups, the process is simple, please email us on info@activehumber.co.uk to register your interest and we can schedule a phone call with you to discuss your project.

East Riding of Yorkshire Community Tree Planting Fund
The East Riding of Yorkshire Community Tree Planting Fund has been launched this month, with the deadline for applications being 30th August. Grants of up to £5,000 are being made available to private and public landowners, town and parish councils as well as other community groups in a bid to increase the number of native trees across the East Riding.
The East Riding of Yorkshire Community Tree Planting Fund is looking to support projects that will include creating new areas of native woodland, planting new clusters of native trees and hedgerows or establishing new groups of individual native standard trees.
