ERVAS Launch New Virtual Youth Hub
Here at East Riding Voluntary Action Services (ERVAS), we have recently developed a new Virtual Youth Hub to provide young people with a space to connect with other young people. We have included the following sectios:

New WhatsApp service for coronavirus information
The new free to use service launched by the government aims to provide official, trustworthy and timely information and advice about coronavirus (COVID-19), and will further reduce the burden on NHS services.
This will help combat the spread of coronavirus misinformation in the UK, as well as helping ensure people stay home, protect the NHS and save lives.
The GOV.UK Coronavirus Information Service is an automated ‘chatbot’ service which will allow the British public to get answers to the most common questions about coronavirus direct from government.
The service will provide information on topics such as coronavirus prevention and symptoms, the latest number of cases in the UK, advice on staying at home, travel advice and myth busting.
The service will also allow the government to send messages to all opted-in users if required.
To use the free GOV.UK Coronavirus Information Service on WhatsApp, simply add 07860 064422 in your phone contacts and then message the word ‘hi’ in a WhatsApp message to get started.
A set of menu options is then presented which the user can choose from and then be sent relevant guidance from GOV.UK pages as well as links to GOV.UK for further information.
Victim Support share advice on scammers and fraudsters
Victim Support has published two guides, one for individuals and one for groups, with practical tips and advice on how to be alert to scammers and fraudsters during the coronavirus pandemic. You can download both guides below:
HEY Confident Futures is a network and leadership development programme for staff, volunteers and trustees from social and cultural organisations in Hull and East Riding.
There are two key elements to HEY Confident Futures:
Firstly, this is a network of people working in the social and cultural sector in Hull and East Yorkshire. Most people will work for a charity, social enterprise or similar organisation. By being part of the network you will be able to forge connections with people in similar roles or organisations with aims that complement yours. There may be people who have encountered similar challenges and can support you or perhaps there is an organisation that could work with you on project.
Secondly, there will be a series of training and development opportunities to suit all individuals. The design is such that you can shape your learning or work with the Partnership manager to look at what opportunities work best for you and your organisation. The learning is flexible with a variety of courses including online, half day and short courses. This training will mostly take place once we have the green light to have public gatherings again.
The Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) Select Committee held a hearing on Tuesday to discuss the need for Government support for the sector but as yet, no support ‘package’ has been announced. There is currently a social media campaign #EveryDayCounts taking place, led by national charities, to show the amazing work the voluntary sector is delivering across the UK. We’re following this very closely and will update you as soon as we have more information.

NHS Volunteer Programme update and guidance
NHS Volunteer Responders have been mobilised to help support vulnerable individuals who are self-isolating. Priority will be given to those identified as most at risk from COVID-19 and asked to self-isolate at home for an extended period, and to those who health practitioners and local authorities consider to be vulnerable. The volunteer initiative is being delivered by NHS England and NHS Improvement in partnership with Royal Voluntary Service and enabled by the GoodSam Responders app.

Temporary stop on evictions
The Government have acted to put a temporary stop on evictions as a result of the current corona virus situation. East Riding Council has posted information about this development on its website. Please scroll down to the ‘Service Updates’ and open the listing for ‘Private Sector Housing’.
East Riding Safeguarding Boards – Websites refreshed
The safeguarding adults board, and the safeguarding children’s partnership websites have both been recently updated to include advice around coronavirus. Visit their website and click on the yellow button as seen above this article.

Tech volunteers have come together to offer support to those fighting the COVID-19 emergency. Covid Tech Support is offering free assistance to doctors, community volunteers and others working in essential services, helping to set up WhatsApp groups, Facebook pages, websites, apps and lots more. Filing deadlines can be extended – but remember to ask for an extension before your deadline
Those with a medical condition that makes them extremely vulnerable to coronavirus can register for help and support. For example, they can ask for help getting deliveries of essential supplies like food. Anyone who is not sure whether their medical condition makes them extremely vulnerable, is advised by the government to register anyway. People can register themselves, or on behalf of someone else.
CAF Coronavirus Emergency Fund
In this time of national crisis, CAF has launched this rapid response Fund to help smaller charitable organisations affected by the impact of Covid-19. Grants of up to £10,000 will help them to continue to deliver much needed support to our communities across the UK.
This is intended as a rapid response fund, and they aim to make payments to selected organisations within 14 days of application.
