Future Builders provided support to the voluntary and community sector (VCS) within the East Riding of Yorkshire to ensure they have good governance and succession planning in place in order to ensure they are aware of and compliant with legislative requirements, are able to plan effectively, increase their long-term sustainability and become more resilient.
The Future Builders programme offered:
- Free Training Opportunities
- Intensive Support
- Free ‘How to Guides’ and real-world examples to support implementation in your organisation
We planned programme of organisational training opportunities to empower and support the VCS to increase their skills and resilience specifically around good governance linking in to the Charity Commission requirements around The Essential Trustee and the Charity Good Governance Code, as well as Volunteer/Trustee recruitment and retention, Staff recruitment and Succession Planning.
We provided intensive development support to organisations around developing better governance, by reviewing current governance arrangements across a range of areas including governing document, Regulator requirements (Charity Commission, Companies House, HMRC, Information Commissioners Office etc), policies and procedures, decision making, trustees, staffing and volunteer management and develop a tailored action plan to support organisations in improving their Governance.
Alongside the above we provided volunteer brokerage to support organisations with the recruitment of Volunteers and Trustees.
We are provided intensive development support to a limited number of organisations focused on succession planning, which is part of the good governance picture. Succession planning impacts the whole organisation and conducted in a timely manner, contributes positively to the whole organisation and helps to build a culture of training and development, reflection and transparency in relation to roles and responsibilities. All of which are building blocks of successful people management.
Working with a few organisations intensively we have produced materials to support other voluntary and community groups with succession planning ensuring they are more resilient, sustainable and future ready.
