Pocklington youth charity, Young People Count is in its seventh year and has just opened its first dedicated building in Pocklington Town centre to provide a place where young people aged 11-18 can “chat, chill and create” from 4-8pm weekdays, with regular activities planned and a café bar available for refreshments.

We are looking for 1 or 2 Qualified Youth Worker/s with experience of working with young people to cover 20 hours each week from 4-8pm Mon – Fri.  This could be managed on a part time or job share basis. There is the potential to extend opening hours, subject to enough volunteers staffing the building. The role/s are currently being offered on a fixed term basis whilst we seek further funding.

YPC provides young people with the opportunity to participate in a range of arts and crafts, music and drama, sports-based activities, competitions, games, and trips throughout the year.  The successful candidate will work with volunteers and Trustees to develop the Club by planning each session, setting up equipment, arranging the occasional trip, keeping records and buying in items for the café.

What we are looking for:

  • Level 3 Youth Work Qualification would be desirable but not essential.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience of working with young people or managing youth projects.
  • The ability to engage with young people and their families, understanding issues relating to young people.
  • To be enthusiastic and motivated to help develop our young people in a weekly session.
  • A successful DBS, First Aid & Safeguarding Qualification


The rate of pay is £11.00 per hour.
