The Insidious Nature of Coercive Control

October 5 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Luke Hart will share his family’s story of coercive control and domestic homicide, discussing the impact of growing up with coercive control

About this event

The Yorkshire and Humber Multi-Agency Safeguarding Trainers Group (YHMAST) are excited to offer this webinar, as part of its Domestic Abuse from a Child’s Perspective series, for those working in the Yorkshire and Humber areas.

This webinar, presented by Luke Hart, Director of CoCoAwareness, focusses on the personal and family impact of growing up with coercive control and how it can be invisible even to the victims who suffer it every day, reflecting on how he and Ryan only realised they were victims of domestic abuse when they were sat in the police station days after the murders. Luke will also discuss the impact of the murders of Mum and Charlotte, the media response to the murders, and how Luke and Ryan have managed since.

Biographical Details:

Luke Hart, and his brother Ryan Hart, share their family’s story of coercive control and domestic homicide. So far, their work has taken them to over 13 countries and they have trained tens of thousands of professionals in identifying, understanding, and ending domestic abuse.

They have also worked closely and frequently with the national media on domestic abuse reporting and are White Ribbon Ambassadors and Refuge Champions speaking out against male violence towards women and children.
