Humber Charity Network Event

The Event is intended to provide:

  • An overview on the benefits of becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation
  • Details of the main responsibilities you should be aware of as a trustee
  • Information on how to make the most of your Trustee’s Report and strengthen internal controls around charity finances
  • Create new links and networking opportunities with other organisations


This will enable CEOs and finance managers to work on the strategic position of their organisation and give trustees an overview of the main responsibilities they should be aware of in their role of overseeing and approving the implementation of that strategy.

Charitable Incorporated Organisation – whyconvert to a CIO? Alistair will provide you with information on the benefits of becoming a CIO and the process involved.

Sian Broughton – CEO, East Riding Voluntary Action Services (ERVAS) Ltd and Director of Phoenix Accountancy and Business Consultancy

Trustees have independent control over, and legal responsibility for, a charity’s management and administration. They play a very important role, almost always unpaid. Sian Broughton will provide an overview of the main legal responsibilities you should be aware of as a Trustee.

Carrie Jensen – Forrester Boyd Chartered Accountants

Having a compliant Trustees’ Report is currently a hot topic with the Charities Commission. Carrie will discuss some of the key weaknesses and provide advice on how to make improvements to your report. She will also talk about ways of strengthening internal controls around charity finances.
