Autism Training

April 1 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Autism Training

On Friday 1st April, and as part of Autism Acceptance Week and to highlight some of the challenges autistic people face Matthew’s Hub are making available two free online workshops which explore the lived experience of autistic people.

Part one: 10am -12pm
Autism and Masking; Carl Cameron asks what is masking, why do autistic people mask, what is the impact of masking and do woman and girls mask more successfully than boys and men and if so does this mean?

Part two: 1pm – 3pm
Autism and Women: Abbey Townend, Angie Pattrick and Olivia Mohr-Barker explore the additional stressors, barriers and diagnostic challenges faced by autistic women and girls, how they mask and go under the radar. While we firmly believe that an academic understanding of autism theory is vital, there is nothing like training delivered from a lived experience’. At Matthews Hub we believe that it is the right of every autistic person to have a voice, so It is for this reason that all of the people involved in the delivery of our autism training, either as training lead or as an are autistic and experts both academically and by lived experience.
