Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults

The Hull Community Safety Partnership – Domestic Abuse Partnership (DAP) has produced the attached briefing in preparation for the forthcoming World Cup. This has been produced in order for the wider partnership in Hull to be ‘geared up’ for a likely increase in domestic abuse incidents based on the following previous patterns:

·         The Home Office has highlighted that during the 2006 and 2010 World Cup domestic abuse reported to the police increased by 30% nationally.

·         In Hull during the 2010 World Cup reports of domestic abuse doubled on England match days. Other agencies dealing with victims of domestic abuse also saw an increase.

·         Nearly half (40%) of all suspects in domestic abuse cases were in drink at the time of the incidents.

The Safeguarding Boards have both been asked to circulate the briefing via their Members for onward circulation within partner agencies.  For the briefing information please click here
